JUST HOME FROM WORK
Mood:  chillin'

Things were really slow at work, so slow in fact, that I received a call from the boss telling me to come in at 7 instead of 5. I hated to do it, but the other 3 who were working only get one or two days a week and they need their hours as much as I do.

Other than being slow, the evening actually went by pretty quick. After we closed, we started talking about a few things that are going on at work. Like one manager getting blamed for smoking in the bathroom. As most people may not be aware - Ohio has banned smoking in all businesses except tobacco stores and private owned bars. Well, there are at least two of us who know for a fact that the manager who is suspected of smoking in the restroom is NOT doing it. This manager is convinced that our head manager has it out for him and he may be right. No matter how unfair it is. However, I can't say that I'd be sorry to see him go.

We were also talking about hours being cut. Yes, they're being cut but they are also talking about hiring more people - that doesn't make any sense. It's a struggle for me to keep getting my 5 days a week and I'll be damned if I'm going to watch someone who hasn't been there as long as I have be given more days than I'm given. For isntance, when the current schedule was posted I noticed that this one person was given 5 days and I was given 4. This person has been there 3 yrs compared to my 8 yrs, so I said something to the manager on duty and basically complained until I was given a 5th day. I can understand cutting the hours of the people who don't care what type of job they do or those people who call off repeatedly or even cutting the hours of the people that they would like to see quit. But when you're told that you do a good job and managers want you on their shift why cut your hours? Maybe I will find out the answer to that one someday.

Then of course we talked about petty stuff that we usually talk about - personal relationships and such. We still made it out of there within a half an hour which is a good thing, especially since the head manager thinks that it should take an hour at least to get out of there.

Oh well, one more day of work and then I'm off for a day and I can tell ya, I am honestly looking forward to a little bit of downtime!

WELCOME TO FIGHTIN' WORDS
Mood:  mischievious

I would like to welcome you to my blog: FIGHTIN' WORDS. Now dont get the wrong impression - I titled it after my favorite Trace Adkins song and because sometimes I may be highly opinionated and a bit controversial in my entries. Nothing at all wrong with that Cool.

This is obviously in the infant stages, as I am still setting things up around here.

So, do visit again and remember comments - good, bad, or ugly are always welcome - I don't take anything personally and that's what makes me unique.
